Which is best... co.uk or .com?

Whether you choose a .co.uk or a .com is not a deision to be taken lightly as choosing the wrong one could mean that your business fails to realise its full potential.

  • For selling products or services within the UK a .co.uk domain name is generally more effective in marketing terms than a .com domain, as they are viewed with less scepticism and are considered to be more 'local' and therefore relevant.
  • If selling predominantly in the States then a .com (or .net) is the one for you

    Moral: If you are or ever intend to sell to both the US and UK markets then you should consider buying BOTH a .co.uk and a .com domain name. It will be much cheaper to do this now rather than later when you realise that your second choice domain name is already taken and to retake control your brand name you will need to pay an inflated rate!
